Senior Development Associate - Completed

Our Client, a prominent and well-established, Washington, DC area based innovative, community-minded real estate development/investment firm, seeks a talented development professional to join the organization. Position Overview:

The Senior Development Associate role is focused primarily on large scale, mixed-use and/or public-private redevelopment projects in various markets/submarkets within the region. This position will be assigned projects of fairly complex nature, providing general direction, oversight and support throughout pre-development, design, construction/project management and stabilization phases.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Overall project management and project tracking for each aspect of the assigned project: Oversee and prepare accurate project documentation for all phases of development, including overall due diligence, budgets, schedules, meeting minutes, funding requests, status reports, etc.
  • Lead/assist with development meetings through pre-development and development stages, including meetings with public and private partners, neighborhood groups, design teams, general contractors and public hearings.
  • Management of vendor contracts and performance.
  • Lead/assist in managing projects in both pre-development and construction phases to ensure completeness of drawings and adherence to architectural plans/specifications, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage monthly disbursement process with contractors, consultants, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead/assist in the transition of developments from construction to operations.
  • Pre-development budget and proforma maintenance; ongoing project financial, cost and budgetary analysis, including the preparation of cash flow analysis and monitoring monthly project schedules to determine if projects are on schedule and within the approved budget.
  • Supporting the due diligence process during new business pursuits.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments including acquisitions, asset management and operations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degrees in engineering, construction management, architecture or business/finance related disciplines desirable. Master’s Degree/MBA in commercial real estate a plus.
  • Proven multifamily development execution experience. Strong preference having been involved in various stages of ground up and/or complex development projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong and creative problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid organization, time management and leadership skills
  • Able to handle multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to interact with people at various experience levels inside/outside the organization.
  • Highly motivated, goal oriented, self-starter with a positive attitude
