Development and Leasing Director
Company Overview: Our client is a dynamic and growing real estate and infrastructure investment firm based in Washington, D.C. Backed by a European real estate group with over 70 years of experience, the company specializes in the development and construction of industrial, data center, commercial, multifamily, and mixed-use projects.
Position Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Development and Leasing Director to join our client’s team. In this role, reporting directly to the President, you will oversee the lifecycle of data center projects, from development execution through to leasing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the data center industry, with a focus on real estate development, project management, and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
Leasing & Business Development
- Foster relationships with prospective clients, brokers, and industry partners.
- Work alongside brokers to devise and implement effective leasing strategies to attract tenants and maximize occupancy.
- Prepare and negotiate lease agreements to secure favorable terms for the company.
- Conduct market research and analysis to guide leasing strategies and pricing.
Development
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of data center development projects.
- Coordinate with in-house construction management team.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure the successful delivery of data center facilities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including tenants, fiber and utility companies, and local authorities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in data center construction and operation.
Other
- Stay informed about industry trends and innovations in data center design and technology.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including construction and accounting, as well as executive leadership.
- Lead the effort to develop the operational capabilities required to effectively manage and operate data center facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Development, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the data center industry.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and network systems.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of data center industry standards and regulatory requirements.
